Hockey News
Having secured promotion to Division 1, the Men's "A" team continued their good run by making it to the quarter-finals of the Hong Kong Hockey Association Cup by beating Dragons 6-1. Their May 4th match is against Police "A", who narrowly beat our Men's "B" team 2-1 to advance.
Meanwhile, the Men's "C" team strolled past Police "B" 9-0 to set up a quarter-final clash with KCC "E" in the Hong Kong Hockey Association Plate competition, also on May 4th. Earlier, Valley "E" handed them the division title by being held to a draw, so it's ours for the taking provided we don't have any points deducted in our last league game of the season against Vets "C".
Not to be outdone, the "Ladies' "B" have made it to the finals of the Plate competition after seeing off Elite 1-0. It could well have been an all-Recreio final, but our Ladies' "A" team were unfortunate to lose on penalties to Dutch. The Plate final between Recreio "B" and Dutch is scheduled for May 17th at King's Park at 15:00.
Amongst our goal-scorers, Marc Robson continues to lead the pack with 21 goals to his "C" team mate Andy Kan's 20. With just a few games left to play, it'll be a close and interesting race to the finish.
Congratulations
The hockey section would like to invite all our readers and friends to raise a glass to Mandy (nee Lui) and Marc Robson, from the Ladies' "B" and Men's "C" respectively, for producing another future hockey player.
Caelen (pronounced "Cullen") Robson was born April 9th, and we look forward to a few more siblings to keep him company over the years.
Mother's Day
May is Moms' month, and we have a little tribute to those wonderful ladies who put up with all our crap as we were growing up.
Yau Tong
As a part-time English teacher, I get to travel to all different corners of Hong Kong, which means I've gotten to see a few places I would never otherwise have visited. One such place is Yau Tong, and I brought my camera with me to one of my lessons.
