End of season news
The season is virtually over, but there is still much to play for. The Men's "C" has one league game left, against division leaders SSSC "B", while the Men's "B" team is into the semi-final of the HKHA Cup to be played on May 6th at King's Park. Jason Mak Ho Yin scored both goals to take them through, and that brace moves him into the lead of our goal scorers' table. However, Andy Kan and Marc Robson could still overtake him.
Things have not gone as we had hoped for this season, but still our Ladies' "A" won the Knockout Plate, while the Ladies' "C" took the 9-a-side tournament for the lower divisions.
Despite having the services of two seasoned coaches for the men, we were unable to fight our way into the 1st Division. Indeed, our Men's "A" team narrowly avoided relegation.
As I've said several times during these past few months, my pick of the season is the Ladies' "C" team who showed the kind of commitment and team spirit that used to be the hallmark of our club. In their first season of competitive hockey, they finished runners-up in the 5th Division to add to their 9-a-side trophy, a victory that wasn't as impressive as the way they won the tournament. It is only fitting, then, that they are the only one of our six teams to end the league season with a positive goal difference.
We can only hope for better things all around next season.
