January Summary

The Men's A team had only two games scheduled for the month, and one of them was cancelled because no umpires showed up.

The Men's B also had only two matches to play in January, and they won both of those. Well done!

The Men's C team hit a rich vein of form last month, scoring 26 goals in three games while conceding only one. Marc Robson more than doubled his personal total, scoring eleven of those 26 to bring his tally to 18. Good to see captain Gerry Xavier finaly make the score sheet.

For the Ladies' A, Candy Cheung scored in five consecutive matches to bring her personal tally to seven, making her the team's leading scorer. However, she missed a golden opportunity against Valley B at the end of the month, and the team was unlucky not to secure full points from their two scheduled games.

Luck was also against the Ladies' B, who picked up only one point from their two matches in January, following some very poor umpiring that robbed them of a victory against KCC D. Let's hope the Year of the Monkey turns things around for them.

Match Results

The match results can be found on the two fixtures pages, fixtures by date and fixtures by team. Scores and goal-scorers will be listed on these two pages. There is also a separate page listing the goal scorers and the number of goals they have so far scored.

The tables page will show you at a glance how each of the five teams is doing. The two fixtures pages, scorers, and tables will be updated on a regular basis.

Computer viruses

Virus watchdog groups issued an alert in the final week of January 2004 when the Novarg virus was unleashed. Also known as the MyDoom virus, W32.Novarg.A@mm is a mass-mailing worm that arrives as an attachment with the file extension .bat, .cmd, .exe, .pif, .scr, or .zip.

It allows the attacker the gain access to your computer through which it seeks to get into networks. Please take the time to read about this virus at the Symantec Website.

Last month, I briefly touched on scams and viruses. Here, I'd like to go into more detail about what a virus is and how it might work.

Being married

Our congratulations to Nelson Chiu of the Men's A Team, and Andrea Tang of the Ladies' A Team, on getting married. Not to each other, though. Andrea tied the knot on January 17th, while Nelson said "I do" on December 27th. Our best wishes to both of you.
