Trilobites

Trilobites are marine invertebrates that had hard, three-lobed shells (the axial lobe and two pleural lobes) giving them the name "trilobite" (three lobes). The body is divided into three parts, the cephalon (head), the segmented thorax and the pygidium (tail piece).

Trilobites were hard-shelled marine animals. Their discarded shells have been preserved in marine sediments, sometimes as complete shells but more commonly as fragments.

Below are 13 plates cotaining such fragments. Click on each image for an enlargement and look closely at each one to identify parts of trilobite remains.
