Club History
The Early Years
Football in the 60's in Pontarddulais was as popular as ever; the team in the village were called Talybont Rovers.
The club was run mainly by Alby Lewis and Iorweth Harries. Towards the end of the 60's both Alby and Iory could not carry on with the running of the club. During season 1969-70 the club was run by two teenagers; Phil Downing and Ian Evans.
The responsibility was too great for these youngsters, so they approached two experienced players who lived in the village (which was now a town). Gerald Evans and Donald Williams agreed to take over the running of the football in Pontarddulais. During the summer of 1970, the club changed its name to Pontarddulais Town F.C.
All through the early years, no genuine records were kept other than the minutes of their meetings, so there were no accounts of who scored and who played. During that first year as Pontarddulais Town there were no records of any meetings.
We do know however, that Alby Lewis returned as Chairman and Iorweth Harries returned as Treasurer. Other officers were Vice Chairman - Jack Arrowsmith, Secretary - Ken Evans, Match Secretary - Clive Mathias. Club Captain for the first season was Donald Williams.
The first season under the new name of Pontarddulais Town saw the first XI play 22 league games: Won 16, Drew 4, Lost 2 scoring 127 goals with 20 against.
The clubs highest score ever recorded to date was against Salsters on January 2nd 1971 with a score of 25-0, only two outfield players plus the goalkeeper did not score!
It was also found that the first XI beat Porthyrhyd 3-1 at home in the quarter final of the Challenge Cup. The club played the semi final of the Challenge Cup against Trallwm, this was played at Bwlch. We won the game 6-1. In the final we met Ammanford, the first game ended 2-2 but the replay was a disappointing 3-1 defeat.

The season finished with us playing 22 league games, winning 11, drawing 7 and losing 4.
SEASON 1972-73
In the season 1972-73, the club went through the whole season without losing a game. The Captain who guided the 1st Team during this time is one of our committee today, Alan Rees.
SEASON 1974-75
The clubs most succesful year to date was in 1974-75 when we were runners-up in the first division, Challenge Cup Winners, and reached the quater finals of the West Wales Cup.
SEASON 1999-2000
In March 2000, the club played a talented Seaside team in the T.G. Davies Cup who had won the West Wales Cup in the previous week. The club were proud to boast a squad of players that 14 of the 16 actually lived or were born in Pontarddulais, and 12 of the 16 played junior football for the Town. It was a great night for the club as we beat this Seaside team for their first time that season and consequently won the T.G Davies Cup 1-0 with James Jones grabbing the winner!
We are now in our 35th Year as Pontarddulais Town F.C.
