Hi, and welcome to Ningyou no Koe, the first English fansite for Japanese singer and cellist Wakeshima Kanon (分島花音). There isn't much here right now, as Kanon is a brand new artist, but I hope for this site to grow as Kanon's career does. :) I intend to have translations of lyrics, interviews, etc.; things like icons and wallpapers in the media section; basic information; and whatever else I think of as I go along.
I'm always looking for suggestions and contributions, so if you've got anything you'd like to see here, then definitely let me know!
While you're here, I'd really appreciate a quick post on my Tagboard, if you don't mind!
UPDATES
07.27.2008 - There are four new diary updates under Translations--the 3 most recent as well as the entry for 5/30, which I somehow skipped over before. Also, I edited the About Kanon page a bit, since she turned 20 recently--so her new age is up as well as her birthdate. I'm currently working on translating the Neowing interview that was brought to my attention in the LJ community, but that will take me a little longer. I have a few days off work, so I'm hoping I can get that done by Wednesday-ish. I'm just having a little difficulty with it, and it will take a little bit of time, so I figured I'd just make this update for now :]
07.09.2008 - Two updates: scans from Kera June 2008 under Photos and the two newest entries on the Diary page under Translations. I didn't realize it had been so long since I last updated! I've been really ridiculously busy and hardly at home lately... but right now I'm enjoying a few days off :] Hopefully that way I can get caught up with the site [I'm almost there!] and everything. Thanks, everyone, for being patient with me. I'm going to start trying to make more time to update, I promise!
06.24.2008 - Once again, a bit behind schedule, there's another diary update up under Translations :] Sounds like Kanon's been doing some recording! So hopefully we'll get to hear some new material from her soon.
06.18.2008 - Scans of the article about Kanon from Fool's Mate #321 (July 2008) have been added in the Photos section. I also translated her Picture Gallery entry from 6/13, which is under Diary. I think I may, in the near future, separate the diary/gallery entries, but they're OK together for now. I really am sorry for the less frequent updates as of late, I just started a new job this week and I've been busy with that, appointments, and everything else. But I'm still here and working on the site as much as I can :]
06.10.2008 - I almost missed a diary update! Sorry about that! Kanon usually only updates about once a week, usually Tuesday or Wednesday, but I guess she did an extra one in between last Friday. It was about how she voiced the character of the maid in episode 8 of Vampire Knight. It sounds like she had fun doing it :] Anyway though, that's been translated and posted, as well as today's entry with some of her thoughts about the songs on the single. [For future reference, if I'm ever a couple days behind on translating a diary update, feel free to drop me an email or a tagboard post requesting it/letting me know!]
06.05.2008 - Hey guys. Sorry it's a little late, but Kanon updated her diary on Tuesday, so I just translated and posted it. Someone sent me a link to some sheet music for "Still Doll," so I posted that up in the Links section. I also fixed a couple little things in the "Still Doll" romaji lyrics the other day. Sorry for the slight lack of updates... there hasn't been too much news! That, and I haven't been online much these past few days.
06.02.2008 - I got the idea from a Tagboard post to put up a little English guide on how to write Kanon a message through her website. :] The info is under both About Kanon and Webmistress/Contact, as I wasn't sure which was the better place xD I just made a screenshot of the Message page with the English info typed onto it, so let me know if that helps. (And I'm sure Kanon would love to know about all the fans she's getting outside of Japan, so feel free to message her, even in English--though it might help to keep it simple!)
06.01.2008 - I fixed a couple little mistakes in the romaji lyrics for "Kuroi Torikago" under Translations. Kanji with multiple pronunciations, etc.... I posted it before I had been able to check it while listening to the song. But it should be all good now.
05.30.2008 - This update is a little overdue, but I had to wait until I was at my boyfriend's house and could use his fast internet xD I've posted the CD/booklet scans from Still Doll as well as some PV screencaps (done by me, yesterday) to the Photos section. Plus, Hikz sent me higher-quality/bigger versions of the Still Doll promo shots. Thanks again! :D Also, I finally got to hear the entire single today. I love it! I'm really impressed with it, especially as a first release. I think we can expect great things from Kanon in the future :]
05.29.2008 - According to Wikipedia, apparently Kanon's new single started out at #22 on the Oricon charts. Hopefully it will do even better as more people hear it :3 Additionally, I got a news email from Sony today saying she'd be in the July issue of Fool's Mate. Lastly, we have a new affiliate: Still Doll, the French fanblog.
05.28.2008 - Me again! This isn't really an update so to speak... but I'm really impressed with all the traffic this site seems to be getting since the release of the single! I wanted to thank everyone for taking the time to check the site out, and I hope the information, translations, etc. have been helpful to everyone so far. I'll keep it coming as more is available to me :] OH, I also wanted to mention that I've added two Kanon-related fanlistings to the Links section (and joined them as well). If you know of any more, let me know :]
05.28.2008 - Thanks again to the wonderful people at the LJ community, I got my hands on the lyrics for "Kuroi Torikago," and the Japanese, Romaji, and English can now all be found under Translations. :] Enjoy!
05.27.2008 - First and foremost: Congratulations to Kanon on today's release of "Still Doll"! Apparently there's now a sample of "Kuroi Torikago" on the website, but I'm at home on my ridiculously slow dial-up connection, so I have yet to listen. Additionally, there's now an English page on her site, but it's pretty much just some of the same information that's up here in the "About Kanon" section. Anyway, in real news about site updates, Kanon's Diary has been updated, so I posted the translation in--well, yeah, Translations. :] This one's really cute [as always], so check it out. || EDIT: If anyone has or knows where I can get the original Japanese lyrics for "Kuroi Torikago," please let me know! I've been looking really hard for them so I can do a translation, but I've had no luck so far. So any help would be greatly appreciated.
05.26.2008 - I was finally able to add some things to the Photos section, thanks to some wonderful people from the Kanon Wakeshima LJ community. Thanks again, guys :] Also, I decided to just set up a Photobucket album as a place to host the images here, as I don't have too much space here. So feel free to check that out!
05.24.2008 - Kanon updated her diary, so I translated it and posted the new entry. Again, it can be accessed under Translations. I also added a Tagboard to the Webmistress/Contact page. I'm hoping for some more updates within the next few days, but I've got a busy weekend ahead of me--I'll get done what I can ASAP!
05.23.2008 - Added Kanon's diary (which will be an ongoing project) and an article from the OHP under Translations. Whew, that was a nightmare, especially the article! I'd better get to bed... considering the fact that it's now 12:36 AM.
05.22.2008 - Site open! There's not a lot here yet, but just hold on and it will grow... like magic! :]
