About Us

And here's where it all began.....

A meeting was held on 15 September 2004 by representatives from the NTU Office of Facilities, Planning and Management (OFPM), a few members of the Nanyang Pets Support Group (NPSG) and representatives from the Cat Welfare Society (CWS) to consider the feasibility of establishing "Cat Cafes" on the NTU campus.

The objectives of the Cat Café scheme are to

    1. stay away from canteens, markets and other food service areas;
    2. avoid invasion of residential quarters and refuse collection areas.

With these objectives in mind, NTU OFPM and NPSG representatives toured the campus and agreed on 3 suitable locations for a pilot Cat Cafe project. The 4 Cat Cafe volunteers began feeding almost immediately.

More volunteers joined, the number of Cat Cafes increased and we decided to change our name to NTU Cat Management Network on 15 March 2006 to show that we are committed to the objectives of the scheme.

Now almost 2 years down the track, we have set up 8 + 1 (satellite) Cat Cafes and over 60 staff and student volunteers.

OFPM has provided us with a holding room for recuperating cats and is contributing to the "Kitty" for purchasing cat food. CWS has agreed to sponsor 50 sterilisations for the stray cats on campus for 1 year.
