Welcome to the home for BITEBAC the Retail Crime Initiative set up in Blyth Town Centre, Northumberland to tackle crimes against its businesses.

This scheme has come about through the amalgamation of the two previous initiative.  The Shopwatch Radio Scheme and the Town Centre Exclusion Order Scheme officially joined forces in May 2006 and has began expanding to areas as far as Newsham and Cowpen.

Action Against Business Crime accessed the scheme and gave it the National seal of approval in the form of a Safer Business Award.  Blyth were only the 72nd in the country to achieve this standard and joined Hexham to be the second to gain this award in the whole North East Region.

The scheme monitors those caught committing crime against the members stores via Radio Link and each store holds a list of offenders.

The scheme membership levels grow on an almost weekly basis and shows the commitment with which the retailers of Blyth Town Centre have to reducing retail crime.
